The Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL7 was voted Road-CC Superbike of the Year 2020/2021!

It came as no surprise to us, we love Specialized bikes and have first-hand experience of the ride. Lightweight, aerodynamic and super cool! With a threaded bottom bracket and reasonable oversize, all in all, it’s super light out the box! We have been an S-Works dealer for almost three decades now. And as a result, we have ridden every model and owned most Specialized bikes. Customer feedback is extremely positive with quite a few customers never looking back once having bought into the S-Works!

Whether it is a Specialized MTB, Road, Race, or Triathlon, their entire range is at the top of the game.

This is what Road-CC had to say

The Road.cc Superbike of the Year 2020/21 is the S-Works Tarmac SL7 Dura-Ace Di2. Yes, it’s expensive, but the performance is amazing.

This is one of the latest top-end offerings from Specialized that focuses as much on aerodynamics as it does on weight – or the lack of it. The frameset has seen various tweaks over its predecessor, and when paired with aero components like the handlebar and wheels makes the SL7 a very fast bike indeed.

Lightweight design

The Tarmac SL7 has remained the lightweight road bike from Specialized’s range, with the added Venge aero model. However, the popular US brand has said the Tarmac SL7 is so efficient in aerodynamics that there is no longer a need to have the Venge. Because of this, the Venge is only available as a frameset now.

The Specialized S-Works SL7 shows phenomenal efficiency and speed, weighing a smidge over the minimum weight limit from UCI  (6.8kg/15lb), the 56cm S-Works is no slouch off the line.

Once you have gotten the bike up to speed it rolls along like a dream. And when the aero benefits start reducing on hill climbs, its weight helps you to power uphill.

Superior comfort

Even with plenty of stiffness, the Specialized S-Works SL7 doesn’t sacrifice comfort. This Specialized bike is a peloton-ready race machine. So, don’t expect the experience of a cosseting ride. It’s firm without any displeasing levels of harshness. If you want to bring in a little bit more cushioning then you can exploit the Tarmac’s largest tyre width at 32mm.

Balanced geometry

The S-Works is an absolute breeze when descending due to its quick steering abilities. Light and stiff bikes can often feel flighty over rough terrain at high speeds. That being said, the Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL7 never does. The whole bike feels balanced and stabilized. Not to mention, thanks to precise handling, you can bear a lot of speed when coming up to corners.

This bike certainly delivers on all the desired attributes of a top-flight race machine. From comfort to speed, handling to stiffness, the Specialized S-Works SL7 is a beast.
