Bournemouth businessman gets cycling in support of Dorset Mind….When Covid19 lockdown was announced we were all in shock! When the government tells you to close your business for a few weeks, possibly months it sends all kinds of emotions through your body. Most of us have never faced anything like it and it certainly took some getting used to. Bournemouth based event promoter and nightclub owner Ty Temel had to close every business he runs. Ty was fully aware of the mental health pressures this would have on our community and set about raising money to support Dorset Mind. With the modern world communicating on social media, Ty started to post news stories about his challenge #june500 and people started to take notice and get excited. Covering 1000 km in the month of June by cycling, swimming and running was the plan with some of his close friends. Momentum really started to get going with lots of others joining in the challenge, after being motivated by watching their adventures. As we write, the total so far raised is in excess of £20,000 for the charity which will make a huge difference to their work. When we had to cancel our own 2020 charity events, it was very disappointing but the year isn’t over…watch this space! We have lost some great friends form our local cycling community to suicide, Dorset Mind support local people who might be experiencing tough times in their life. We all suffer from time to time and we all know its good to talk. Charities like Dorset Mind break down barriers….Great work guys.
