Take the Road Less Travelled.
Redefining what gravel can be.
The RLT 9 RDO is redefining what gravel can be. Seriously. Who doesn’t like a diversion? Something different. A different perspective. A change of pace. We designed the RLT 9 RDO to encourage diversion.
RLT 9 RDO - Style for miles
You want to not just go the distance but do go there fast? The RLT 9 RDO is a gravel bike made to make those often bumpy miles sail bike. Do you want to explore? This bike encourages it. How about undertaking long and adventurous rides? Please do. Need a change of pace, a break from the routine? Go ahead. Give it a chance. If you can think it on two wheels, the RLT, a multi-tool of a bike, might just be the bike for you. From dirt trails to gravel to asphalt, this bike takes it all in stride and you along with it.
It's all about the ride
It’s hard to know where to start with this versatile beauty. The sleek, eye-catching design? The thoughtful benefits of NMF internal cable guide routing? The flat mount disk brakes?
We know those are important, but when it all comes down to it, none of those features matters if the ride quality blows. So, when we set about designing the RLT 9 RDO we talked to riders. They wanted a bike that could go the distance but perform when pushed. They wanted a bike that was stiff yet compliant. A bike that transferred power instantly but absorbed rough terrain. And, a bike that wouldn’t weigh them down but is durable.
So, that’s what we sat down at the drawing board to do and that’s what you see here. A bike we’re proud to add to the RDO line of bikes. A bike with mountain biking roots that tips its hat to the AIR 9 RDO. A bike so fast and fun and comfortably designed that it can be ridden competitively, on multi-day adventures and everywhere in between. This bike just works. In fact, we’re still scratching our heads wondering how we pulled it off.
Take a close look at the frame - the heartbeat of the new RLT 9 RDO. It’s a frame that wants to be pushed and pushed hard. Our Carbon Compaction process makes this frame 10% lighter without being flexy in the wrong places. It delivers performance and comfort all day long. And, we always design our bikes to meet rigorous mountain bike industry standards for strength. (Road bike standards are less stringent.)
Keeping ride quality in mind, we went to great lengths to design the frame junction where the stout seat tube, the bridgeless seat stays and the wafer-thin top tube come together. This design delivers just enough flex to keep the rider comfortable all day long without unnecessary weight. But don’t worry about this bike flexing in the wrong places. The massive down tube and chainstays keep power transfer right where you need it to be.
Tech features you'll love
Taking advantage of new technology, we included a window under the bottom bracket which makes cable/wire installation easy and allows you the ability to easily service components like Shimano’s Di2 system. The NMF cable guide routing means you feed the cable housing in one end and it comes out the other end. No More Fishing. The full carbon sleeved bottom bracket shell can be used with a PF30 press-fit bottom bracket or, if you pine for a simpler life and would like to go single speed, the BioCentric 30 eccentric bottom bracket can handle the duty. (BioCentric sold separately.)
We also added flat mount disc brakes. The absence of post mounts makes for a stiffer rear end and we were able to design the bike around appropriate braking power. There’s no need for a 160mm rotor when a 140mm handles the job with ease. They’re also easier to install and adjust which may also make your mechanic smile.
And speaking of mounts (this is a high-performance adventure bike after all) you’ll find intelligently placed rack and fender mounts on both the frame and the fork.
RDO carbon fiber
Carbon fiber is common, but care, quality, and attention to detail are not. Niner RDO carbon fiber is a cut above. We start with the best grades of raw carbon layered precisely according to the stress points on the frame structure. In construction, our process employs rigid internal molds and results in tighter, more consistent compaction of the carbon fabric. The result? Increased precision in wall thickness and reduced resin pooling in the final product. We can build more elaborate structures with better ride tuning, increased strength, outstanding durability, and less weight, making it easier for you to handle all the run-ups, while still being tough enough to handle the nastiest of conditions.
