After racing a Specialized S-Works Tarmac for a couple of seasons I was looking for a replacement bike for 2018. I started looking at other brands but then heard Specialized had a brand new Tarmac in progress! I had a chat with the Specialized tech guys and the performance figures sounded very impressive, increased stiffness, more aero and increased comfort.

Wind tunnel testing results were very impressive, it was time to try a demo bike over my regular 100k route. Being very honest it was as good as it gets! Very responsive out the saddle and accelerated really well out of corners. This ride was part of my training program so with the included efforts it was going to test most of the bikes ability. Power stomps while seated were fun, if fun is the correct description! As soon as the power went down the bike came to life, same on the climbs with efforts.
After riding this bike I ordered a 56cm Ultralight frame and started choosing my favourite equipment.
Specialized Roval 50 carbon wheels. I used these last season and love them, reliable and fast.
Zipp sprinter stem, once again an old favourite which is super stiff.
Enve carbon bars as they fit my hands really well and very comfortable.
Specialized S-Works Romin Evo carbon saddle - Light and fits me well.
Lizard Skin 2.5 bar tape.
Specialized S-Works tyres 24mm, I've had great success with these and zero flats.
Elite carbon bottle cages, holds the bottle well even on very rough roads and cobbles.
Look carbon pedals, industry standard!
Quarq carbpower crank. Super accurate reading and sleek carbon cranks.
