Primera Sports Tom Temple Wins Silver Medal

On Saturday 4th of August, the National Junior 25 mile Time Trial championships were held, conditions were extremely hot and windy. Tom is a very keen road racing cyclist but also has the natural ability to race well in time trials. This race was not about setting a personal best time, it was about riding as fast as possible over 25 miles in a bid of getting the fastest time on the day with a podium placing. Tom is part of the Primera-TeamJobs race team and one of the fastest riders, he might feel a bit more pressure than other riders as his dad ‘Bill Temple’ owns Primera Sports.

We travelled to the course on the morning of the event and checked out the 25-mile route. Rolling roads with temperatures rising by the hour - it was going to be a tough day! Event organiser A3crg are well known for their excellent signage around the course and the National was no different, signs on every junction and marshals with flags did a great job. Race start was 15.02 with riders starting at one-minute intervals until the favourites were starting which then moves to two-minute intervals. I was off second from last and ready for a fast race, working with coach Peter Georgi again this year I was confident with my form. On board, my Cervelo P5 I started and the whole field was soon on the roads trying to get as aero as possible. Time checks were being displayed and it was looking good for a podium place...All the Junior men riders were soon finished and the HQ was full of people looking for times. It was all very close indeed, after racing in 32 degrees over the 25 miles it was only 6 seconds between ,myself and first placed rider! I beat race favourite who ended in third place and was really pleased with my ride and silver medal. After the race my Dad did ask if I could of found the extra 6 seconds, It was a quick no! I emptied myself on the course and had no hold ups during the race. All went really well and a good fair race.

I ride a Cervelo P5 and have worked very closely with Primera Bike Fitter Jon and my dad to fine tune my race bike, It feels great and really pleased with my current set-up. Bournemouth store mechanic Steve fine-tuned the mechanical set up so he was confident all would be working super smooth. Muc-Off provided a super fast chain which is now fully run in and runs with very little friction!

I would like to thank our team supporters TeamJobs Recruitment - Ellis Jones Solicitors & Breeze Volkswagen for their continued support.
