Primera Sports race team are now in full flight for 2019.
Primera-TeamJobs squad have already got a few races completed this season giving sponsors great coverage whilst having fun along the way.
Past two weeks has seen the team racing at Odd Down in Bath, Westpoint Crits and Thruxton Raceway. On Saturday Matt Norris was at Westpoint and after being in the main moves all race he came home with 5th place.
Sunday, team riders were at Thruxton Race Track supporting two races there. First race was the 3rd Category event with Sam Wadsley, Matt Dennis, Nick Tyrie, Julian Lockwood and Jason Gault, it looked like being a great race. Sam who is also a mechanic at our Poole store was up for making it a good day out. Our riders all looked strong but a small group broke away leaving the peloton to chase or make their own race from the group. Sam had different ideas and got to grips with chasing down the lead group. Sam a very fast TT rider has all the ingredients to do the job and did just that. Got himself up there with the leaders and then after a few laps of work on the front he contested the sprint for 3rd place. Matt, Julian and Jason were left to police the chasers and protect their rider up the road, a great team performance.
Next race was the E12 riders, this was always going to be fast, Elite riders who can average well over 30 mph round this race track. It was very cold, windy and cloudy, tall wind finish making it a fast run in. Once again Sam Wadsley was in action - Not content with hammering his way round the first race but wanted to get the most out of the day! These lads just love racing!!
Race underway and it was very fast with riders constantly jumping off the front. Due to the speed riders were falling off the back and retiring lap after lap, the stronger riders getting stuck in at the front. Sam was gritting his teeth and staying near the front, safest place to be! Martin Rowland was in great form and in all the race moves. A group slipped off the front which contained the race favourites but the chasers never gave up.
With a lap to go Martins group was in striking distance but never closed those vital seconds. Showing a good finish Martin claimed 7th place with Sam grabbing 22nd.
A good weekend for the team and our sponsors! Full results to follow.....
