Primera have been stocking Lightweight wheels since April. Lightweight are producers of very high end carbon fibre road wheels that simply are the best wheels on the market. They are also 100 % hand made in the factory in Germany.
I was invited to the Lightweight dealer training weekend in Friedrichshafen last week by David Bergmann. By attending the dealer training we are now an Official lightweight dealer and a competence centre. The couple of days that I spent over in Germany was very beneficial as this gave me some time to speak to the team at Lightweight to find out more in depth and technical info and widen my knowledge of lightweight products and in particular lightweight wheels. It was also great to spend the Sunday afternoon testing the different models in the lightweight range to give me a real idea of how each wheel rides and the different characteristics. Lightweight wheels „handcrafted in germany“. This guideline stands for a German company with facilities in Friedrichshafen at the Lake Constance and Hailfingen south of Stuttgart. Who might be perplexed by the name „Lightweight by CarbonSports“ might have to learn that CarbonSports has taken over the Lightweight brand some years ago and until today is the exclusive owner of Lightweight.
Today in Germany more than 40 families in Hailfingen and Friedrichshafen live by working for the Lightweight brand – in production, sales and marketing. And there are many more people all over the world that at least gain a part of their income by being a member of the international Lightweight family, selling these exclusive wheels.
Handcrafted in Germany
Lightweight – there is nearly no roadie that doesn´t get shiny eyes when hearing that word. No wonder, the name Lightweight is a synonym for THE perfect wheel. Light, stiff, aerodynamic, durable, fast – and simple outstanding beautiful. Lightweight – also a piece of German craftsmanship and a story of success with a whole bunch of homeland roots. What started in the middle Nineties with the invention of the Lightweight wheels by the prime fathers Rudolf Dierl and Heinz Obermayer, who worked very hard in their small garage near Munich on finding the right procedures and inventing the perfect tools until they were happy with what they got: Building the best wheel of the world! Meanwhile Lightweight wheels have approved in some details – but there is still one thing to build them: Lot´s of handcraft!
