Matt Downie leads Primera-Teamjobs to victory at the 'Pain on Portsdown'

Matthew Downie, bouncing back from some frustration after Perfs, preceded to demolish the field at the opening time trial of the year in the south region. This led to a convincing victory in the team prize by over 10 minutes with TJ finishing a strong 4th place and Alex 11th overall.

All 3 riders, new recruits for 2017, showed that they have the power on tap when needed. Matt however blew everyone away, winning the road bike TT by over 2 minutes and even going faster than everyone bar 2 who rode in the separate TT bike event. His time of 41.53 over the 18 mile course will surely stand as a road bike record for many years to come! Not surprisingly, he also took home the KOM prize and 1st U23.

Alex was first junior and impressed with a time of 47.33 to bring some more prizes home for the boys. TJ also was happy to put in a solid performance, narrowly missing out on the podium despite having been off the bike most of the week with a severe case of man flu.

Some very positive signs of things to come for the guys. Next week Matt, along with Ed, will be heading to the Primavera road race in Devon and have high hopes of bringing a result back to Dorset!
